This singular publication is the result of the lifelong work of the professors of art history, Jan Royt and Jiří Kuthan. The book does not seek to provide the biography of Charles IV, the causes, sequence, and consequences of events. It rather focuses on the works of art such as buildings, paintings, statues, and objects of handicraft, mainly goldsmithery, which are related to Charles IV, one of the greatest builders and commissioners of artwork in the Middle Ages in Europe.
